Master of Arts in Nursing

The Program Design

Today’s nurses are expected to master an increasingly complex body of knowledge and attain clinical skills to effectively provide lifesaving and life-sustaining services. Completing a BS Nursing degree and passing the nursing licensure examination are important in your career preparation but these are only the first steps on becoming a nursing professional.

A master’s degree in Nursing and a doctoral degree, later, prepares you for a variety of advanced roles in administration, teaching, research and direct patient care. A graduate degree in nursing brings you more career options and open doors to more opportunities.

The MA Nursing Program at GSC offers you a program of study either in Nursing Administration Services or in Clinical Education.

The curriculum consists of twelve (12) units of core subjects and fifteen (15) units of major subjects. These are constant for both tracks. However, you may choose six (6) units among the cognates specific to your chosen track.

Mission

The Master of Arts Program aims to prepare qualified nurses for career roles in leadership and administrative positions or in clinical education in the delivery of nursing services.

Objectives

At the end of the program, the graduate should be able to::

  • Analyze the role of nurses in the health care delivery system of hospitals and other healthcare facilities and communities.
  • Assume the role of a nurse administrator or a clinical educator responsible for delivering quality patient care and establishing effective working relationships between nurses and other members of a medical team
  • Identify and evaluate issues and concerns related to nursing education and practice
  • Conduct relevant research in the field of nursing or in the practice of the nursing professions.

Samaritano ng Bagong Milenyo

GSC brought out a different version of my personal demeanor. My SHS life at GSC made me embrace unity in diversity and to survive and rise above any challenges. The most remarkable lesson that I learned from GSC community is the line “True wisdom comes with application.” That wisdom led me to have best decisions in life. One of which is to choose a future proof career path and be continuously nurtured by our beloved institution.
